Perfect Pour Over Coffee
Cappuccino, latte or espresso, if you’re a coffee lover, you no doubt have a favorite type. But have you ever tried brewing your own coffee at home? There are different ways to do this and each will change the natural taste of the coffee. In order to make espresso, the water is steamed, when brewed in Turkish coffee pot, the water is brought to a boil.
Boiling and steaming can have a dramatic effect – the coffee develops sourness, bitterness, and other additional flavors, which are brought about by the brewing method. But there is a way to prepare coffee so that there are not such dramatic influences and the coffee taste remains unchanged. This method is a “pour over”.The Japanese invented the pour over technique. In a sense, a pour over is a ritual like a tea ceremony, only using coffee. Here you also need to have a lot of special devices, have knowledge of heating water and maintaining its temperature and you need to be able to pour water on coffee in a certain way and at a speed.
How Pour Over Works For Great Coffee
How everything happens: ground coffee, poured into a special funnel, is slowly and carefully saturated with a thin stream of water, heated to no less than 92 and no more than 96 degrees. Do this within a few minutes, ideally 5-8. Water should be poured into the coffee in a spiral; for this technique, there are special teapots with cleverly curved spouts which help to pour the water in the correct way.
The minimum equipment required for making a pour over coffee is as follows: a dripper funnel, a coffee filter, and a special pour over teapot with a thin long curved spout. The extended version of the equipment also assumes the possession of a thermo-vessel, on which you will put a funnel and a device that will control the heating of water to a temperature of 92 -96 degrees. So, it’s a fairly complicated process!
Because of all these difficulties, few people dare to attempt this method for making coffee at home. Instead this type of coffee is usually only available at special gourmet locations.
It was believed that repeating the manual process of brewing a Pour over automatically was impossible. So when Bodum did manage to build a coffee maker that repeated this process, it immediately became a huge success amongst coffee lovers.
How Automatic Pour Over Works
This is what the Bodum designers came up with: they simulated a manual spill using a complex structure of a shower spraying water in small drops and a series of pipes made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass.
A heating element inside the coffee maker controls the temperature of the water, keeping it within the 92-96 degrees required for a pour over. Pretty clever, right?
Water moves inside the coffee maker through glass pipes, it does not lose temperature due to the fact that the glass of the pipes is heat-resistant. The water then reaches the coffee through a silicone nozzle, which crushes the water jet into droplets, the water soaks into the coffee slowly, just like when brewing manually.Because water trickles slowly through the coffee, the caffeine extraction is high – so Bistro b.Over makes a supertonic drink. Due to the slow brewing, pour-over coffee has a particularly pleasant feature – the taste of the coffee is always pure, without acid or bitterness. With the advent of the Bistro b. Over coffee maker, pour over coffee has every chance to turn from a gourmet drink available only in coffee shops into an everyday coffee for real coffee lovers. People can now make a great pour-over coffee with just the push of a button. A true game changer for coffee lovers. So, if you’re a coffee lover who likes to brew coffee at home, but you’ve always been put off by the equipment and time needed to make your own pour over coffee at home, maybe it’s time to look into investing in an automatic pour over coffee maker – your coffee habit will thank you, although your local barista may not!
